GRAPHIC DESIGN II • WELCOME BACK! CALENDAR • A Refresher in Everything
LAYOUTS / SKETCHES / PLAN Due Dates for Phase 1: Week of Monday 8/27/12
Remember your LAYOUT is 8.5 x 11 • Folded (or closed) • Horizontal format OR: 11 x 17 • Flat (or Open) • Vertical
SOME SPECIFICS you should keep in mind:
This is a 2013 Calendar - You can Google the Months to make sure you have the correct days.
Make a Page with ALL THE MONTHS* you are working on - and the Month Previous and the Month Following - I will show you what I mean by this.
Make a Page with ALL THE MONTH NAMES you are working on - so that they are all consistent in size.
Make a Page with a MASTER GRID which you can use for each of your Months.
Start out by thinking up a theme for your calendar. Please be sure that the material is appropriate for school. We'll meet one-on-one to look at your Layouts for what you want to do. So be creative. Take your favorite subject and personalize it. Sketch out your ideas on your graph paper. The Graph paper is helpful in figuring out proportions and scale.
"Rough out" your ideas, something I can see and understand with a minimum of explanation from you. I would like to see at least 3 directions you might go with your layouts. I want to see some resource material backing up what style you have chosen to emulate. Look on Google (Images) for that - just thumbnails is fine.
Remember - K.I.S.S. - Keep It Super Simple - Don't overload yourself - I want our first project to be challenging - BUT FUN!
Start thinking about Type faces that you want to use - a few resources to consider show up immediately when you Google "Typefaces" or "Fonts".
dafont.com is a good source, also fonts.com and there are many FREE font sources too. Please check with me before you decide on the font you want to use.
We will walk through this project piece by piece and there will be a great final piece to show in the end.
